It’s clear that traditional higher education is in trouble. Student loan debt is at $1.7 trillion, and there are no solutions in sight to reduce student borrowing. President Biden proposed to forgive debt but didn’t propose how to solve the high cost of a traditional college education. President Trump has capped federally provided student loans, particularly at the graduate level. That doesn’t guarantee that colleges will cut their tuition, just that they may find other sources for student loans.
