Men gain power and usually money as they age. It is what they’ve been valued for. Women have been valued for their child bearing abilities.
It is very slowly changing. I read trophy wives are no longer popular but with society’s indoctrination over hundreds of years, change is slow.
All you have to do is look at Hollywood. It’s a reflection of society. In most films the gap in age between the male lead and female lead is large.
And I’ve always found it humorous that men believe the young beautiful wife they acquired after they dumped their original support wife, love them for themselves and not their money. I mean without religious reasons, have you ever seen a young beautiful woman with an old poor man?
