If you had the power to change one law, what would it be and why?

I’m not sure I want to “totally get rid of the law” but I do not think a person’s property should be taken for reasons like “building condos or malls etc. just because someone can make money from it and,so called, improve the city! Because unless it is taken to maybe build a hospital or something that aids in “life or death” situations, I think it is wrong! Owning one’s own home has long been looked at, in this country, as one of the reasons we (US citizens) work hard and dream about achieving our spot in the “shining city on the hill!” Thank you!
Eminent domain should only be used when the government is claiming property for public use, ie hi-ways , dams and bridges.
Agree! But, and I’m not sure of all of current rules, but even in those times there definitely should be a “slowing down” of the process and potentially a legal “denying” of taking the property. I don’t mean that it should just slow the process but “hearings” that truly take into consideration the fact that the owner keeps the property unless the government is able to “jump through” all the roadblocks that is put up for owners! ie. To take a person’s home, all of the responsibility to show “great need” on the government’s side is up to the government to absolutely “prove” or the owner keeps “their property!”
