a feeling of deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities, qualities, or achievements.
I can respect anyone who can make a solid case for what they truly “believe” or “know” irregardless if i believe it or not. Someone who has a “knowing” to a degree that they do not feel they need to “attack” someone and call them names if they don’t share the same beliefs.
On the other hand, I find it very difficult (almost impossible) to “respect” those that need to “tear” down someone in order for them to “feel” good about themselves. In a way, I kind of feel sorry for them because they can’t stand on their own two feet and feel good about themselves without putting another person down. How terrible that must feel… these people would never survive being on an island by themselves because there would be nobody to “put down” in order to “build” themselves up. How “lost” these people must be…
