My biggest issue is watching people that have no idea of what they are doing “training” other people. It’s sad to watch. I mean come on. 11/25/2025
Guys who take one dumbbell out of rack, use it and leave it God knows where (my gym is pretty big). Sometimes it takes a couple minutes to find the missing dumbbell hidden under some machine, and we only have one pair of given weight. 11/25/2025
Trainers with nothing but book smarts that have never lifted telling you you are wrong… but you have the results. 11/25/2025
People who train in groups of 3 or more and take up a portion of the gym all to themselves with their equipment/water bottles/etc. Then they take forever in between sets because they’re cracking jokes and fooling around. 11/25/2025
Out of shape trainers who walk around trying to tell people how to train. Then you hear the trainer – who looks like they don’t even lift – say you need to take “abc product” to lose weight or build muscle. 11/25/2025
Trainers that have overweight clients try to do HIIT when they can hardly stabilize themselves. 11/25/2025
Lately my gym has had a huge increase in members, now large groups of guys (around 6-8) and all try to lift together. I’m all about lifting with friends but they tie up benches and machines for 20 minutes so that all can get in there 8 crappy form sets with the worst range of motion I have ever seen. 11/25/2025
Loudly discussing personal topics: The locker room is not the place for lengthy or private conversations. 11/25/2025
Only 2 squat racks! It’s a combination of patience, luck, and the moon being in the correct phase to get on. 11/25/2025
Folks who walk away from the dead-lift area, don’t re-rack, and come back 15 minutes later and say, “hey man, I was using that”. 11/25/2025
When I ask to work in with you because the gyms is packed and you either look at me with fear or resentment. 11/25/2025
Too many treadmills, step-ups, bikes, cardio equipment. When the free weight section is busting at the gills, and the cardio equipment is getting dusty; there’s a disconnect. 11/25/2025
Overselling the gym memberships. I’ll pay more than $10 a month if I can workout in the free weight area without feeling like a jigsaw puzzle piece. 11/25/2025
Sitting on a machine or bench while not working out, so you can talk to your friend on the next one, during a busy gym time. Just stand if you want to chat while not working out. Someone else may need that piece of equipment. 11/25/2025
Hoarding machines or dumbbells. You don’t need 6 different machines or 6 different sets of dumbbells to use all at once. 11/25/2025
Driving around the parking lot for 15 minutes to look for a space closest to the door of the gym. Unless you have a disability (in which case, this is understandable) just park further away and spend an extra few minutes walking in. 11/25/2025
Setting up 5 treadmills at different speeds, and alternating between them…rather than just adjusting your speed on your one treadmill. (Yes, actual real life scenario). 11/25/2025
Lifting your shirt 17 times over the course of your workout in order to look at your abs in the mirror. 11/25/2025
Bringing your two year old child into the gym and having them sit on a bench and watch television while you work out. If the place was empty, maybe – but when space is limited? Come on… Not to mention this seems like a safety hazard. 11/25/2025
